About

Hi! Thanks for looking in!  You won’t find any sanitized views here –  I’m a thinker of my own thoughts, often having a unique perspective and happy to be me! I tell it like it is, as I see it, think it, feel it.  I’m exactly who I seem to be, and have no hidden agendas.  I love to laugh, have a quick, sharp wit and enjoy making myself and other people laugh, which I do every day!

I have four adult offspring and a great husband number three.  If I’d have had a third strike, I’d take myself out of the ball game. I’m in!  I’m guardian to 8 rabbits, one pony, two big miniature horses, and a neurotic Persian cat.  Oops, I forgot the guinea pig.  That’s okay, she never lets me forget her…

I’m a Jill of all trades, master of some,  a free spirit, enjoy adventure and the outdoors.  I’ll try most anything twice.  My hobby list is overwhelming, even for me, sometimes.  I’ve challenged myself through the years, to find out just what I’m made of! I continue to develop and grow, and marvel in the little things of life.  Over time, I’ll be sharing some of my life experiences, as well as some how-to, what-for and oh-really goodies with you.

Living in the Pacific Northwest coast is a privilege and I commune with nature every day. It rains plenty – about 70″ a year and I love it.  The air smells so sweet here, beach combing is a joy and the wild rivers, ancient and giant redwoods bring tears to my eyes – a deeply spiritual experience.

To read me, you’ll find funny, serious, thoughtful, intelligent, genuine and generous of heart points of view.  Conversely, flippancy, frivolity and levity will be the order of the day.

Soon, I’ll be writing for young children, and hope you’ll read my posts there, as well.  I’ll keep you “posted!”

Finally, I’m not only thinking the words, I’m writing them for readers.  Welcome! I’m happy to know you’ve been here. Please visit again, anytime!

It really is beautiful. It has kind of a flat bottom, so to speak. I have so many beautiful stones I’ve picked up on the beaches here. I hope to do another post featuring the stones, rocks, fossils, bones, driftwood that I’ve picked up.
When I go out, I often choose a stone from a small group that I’ve set out on the cabinet, to carry in my pocket. 😀

Er, yeah. I have not found people here to be any friendlier and even less so than other places. It’s been said that this is a “closed” community. Seems to me, that is an oxymoron. I have people on all sides of me, insisting that my property belongs to them. There are the deep woods rednecks, for lack of a better term, and lots of drugs here.
Meet people on a trail, and you meet like minded people. Some are a little too friendly, and some just fly by.
Perhaps your friend went through Humboldt county…

The redwoods are incredible, If I hadn’t seen them with my own eyes I’m not sure I would have believed a tree could grow so enormous. a few years ago my husband and I packed the kids into the RV and did an extended tour through Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California. The scenery was beautiful, what an experience. I cannot imagine getting to view it on a daily basis. You have a great profile and I enjoy your writing very much.

I get choked up every time I read a comment in regard to the giant redwoods. Saying I’m privileged is an understatement. Being with them is quite a spiritual experience. No one can describe in words what it is to stand next to them. Even photographs fall short, REALLY short.
This morning, in my secret garden, I was pulling invasive species, making room for the natives to move in. While I did that, I uncovered a clump of native Iris and tenderly cleared around it.
There’s a nest of hummingbirds overhead and I could hear them. Incredibly, I looked up and saw a fluffy baby hummingbird being fed by Momma on a miniscule twig. I walked to get the camera, and when I returned, baby still perched but Momma didn’t return for about 40 minutes and with all my practice in focusing for a video, my battery went dead.
Thank you for reading. I really do appreciate it.

It is a blessing if you can live in the free nature and are not bounded to a city or places filled with houses, streets, full of light you can’t see many stars, full of noise day in day out, because of the traffic going on all the time on the many roads and in the air.
At the continent of West Europe we must be pleased to see the Fascinating American Nature on the little screen, were there are luckily, also some good programs to find (because we have so much choice of television channels = more than 300) Though we try to hear life of nature, with the sounds of birds, which diminished in variety but became louder because they had to find partners and get over the surrounding sounds.
Internet is also the other way to get to know something from other places in the world and to be able to share treasures of this magic barrel of life.

anyway, i visited here ’cause i detected (or so i think) a sort of lament. you’re definitely ON the Road to somewhere — and the ‘somewhere’ seems to be a happy ‘up-wardly mobile’ place. cheer, R B

I visited here because of your amazingly clever post on Freshly Pressed, featured on Freshly Pressed (congratulations!) but was also pleasantly surprised to read such an interesting and complex “About” page. I was deeply touched by your comments about the redwoods; I visited Muir Woods many years ago for too short of a time, and even that brief visit left a deep impression. Hi there. Oh dear. I see Nina has just nominated you for The Inspiring Blogger Award. Well, so am I. What can I say? We’ve all got great taste. I have ignored two of the rules. I am sure you can do the same, and accept both nominations but lump us together and respond once. The price one pays for being so popular. It is my post for tomorrow (December 24) — just giving you a heads up. The rules are on my post. Of course, you’ve probably already read them, seeing as how Nina beat me to it.

Thank you. Actually, I haven’t read the rules, but have had other awards, most of which I didn’t follow up on.
I worked hard at creating one acceptance post, and wanted it to be entertaining.
Bookpeeps also nominated me for the same award.
I feel so badly when I let the award nominations slip away. There have been many and I suppose I’m not so good at accepting praise.
I will do. AND, thank you for thinking of me – I really do appreciate it. (now I must get ultra creative on this)
