I was surprised, actually shocked, that California citizens given the choice failed to support a healthy proposal to identify GMO foods. This bodes bad for the future of humanity.

I was completely stunned. The people were fooled and scared out of voting for labeling. Washington, Vermont and Connecticut, with similar bills pending, likely will pass. California is a BIG state, and time was short, so we’ll have another go at it. The people will win, eventually.
Here in my area, bordering Oregon, organic foods is big business, along with efforts for sustainability. When I lived in the desert region of California, organic foods were cost prohibitive and difficult to obtain.
Change is coming. Too late for some, I think. Pesticides and GMO seeds, crops, have taken their toll already. Consider the bee. I know you are aware.

The good news on pesticides is that a lot of UK garden centres are dropping the bee-killing versions and the EU is about to ban certain pesticides. I wish the people of California enlightenment to support GMO labelling at the next chance to vote on it.

I was also truly stunned by the results of California’s last vote! I do believe that change will come but agree that it is too late for some. 😦
