“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way –
things I had no words for.” Georgia O’Keeffe
I don’t compare myself to Georgia O’Keeffe, though her statement is quite significant, to me. I, too, can express more eloquently, with color, texture and shape, the love and joy I have for my enigmatic, energetic and exquisitely entertaining pet rabbits.

I am a visual thinker, so think in images, shapes… but can convert those into words.

If the Bunny Love sculpture were not so titled, it would still speak of love and the delightful movements and mysterious motivations of beloved creatures.

Self expression is a personal choice so feel free to do it you please!
Just as a matter of interest, if it is of interest to anyone, my artistic expression went, over a period of some 52 years, from drawing to painting in oils to poetry and then to writing where it has remained.

It is of interest to me.
Do you really think that artistic expression is a choice? In your case, it would seem to me, that writing is something you MUST do, are driven to do. Why do you think that words became your choice, if you stand by that position? Were you driven to draw, paint or write poetry, in the same way you’re drawn to thinking thoughts and crafting ideas, questions? In my case, I’ve expressed myself in many different ways, artistically, and continue to do so, but ignorantly thought I couldn’t “draw.” I’m teaching myself to “see” now, and am learning to move freely between my left and right minds! In this sense, drawing will be a choice for self-expression, as I plan to use this expression as support to words, through illustration! However, I, too, am on a journey…
Thank you for your comment, Ian.

Ability is innate but one always has the choice although, at times and in some instances, it may not appear to be so. We are always free to choose to go with the flow or to desist.
